Create how you Create with JAB.productions
We sat down with josh to see how he creates.
Story Writen by: Scott Morris
What do you see when you look at a photograph?
Some see what is shown on the surface. That might be a family photo taken years ago, maybe a scenic shot of a vacation you went on with your best friends, or even something crazy you saw that you had to capture or no one would believe you.
But with each of these endless possibilities of photos, there is one common theme shared: the presence of emotion. And for @jabproductions, that’s the key foundation of his purpose in life.
Growing up in a creative space, Josh always has the passion and desire to express himself creatively. He began with painting as his first choice of creating, but eventually moved into photography as his creative outlet. He has now transformed that into event and portrait photography, and doing it
“I stopped painting, but I still wanted an outlet for me to create, feel comfortable, and express myself and how I was feeling. That’s why I picked up a camera and begin working with different models and different people to create emotion through a lens.”
That desire to express emotion is engrained in what he creates, dating back years. He shares a fond memory of a photograph he took with close family member which is still displayed proudly in his house today. It is a constant reminder of how powerful a photograph can be and the
emotions found within each capture.
Josh lives by this mentality with the phrase “Deeper than I.” Being around so many people such as family, friends, clients and everyone in between, he understands how the importance of himself and everyone around him has on those they surround themselves with.
“It’s a break from a lot of the stresses in life. When I have a camera and I’m just working, it’s fun… I love taking pictures for people, so they can see themselves in their own beauty.”
He also wants to spread his knowledge to those looking for creative outlet that isn’t just sports related. When he was growing up, it was sports or nothing until he found the boys and girls club. With his knowledge, he wants to give kids the opportunity to get a camera in their hands and find their passion in a more creative outlet than just sports.
Even when it comes to his own shoots, he wants his clients to feel comfortable and confident. He is always in tune with who he works with by doing the little things like asking about what artist they are listening to in order to make a playlist or getting the client’s favorite food so they can chat before a shoot.
