Create how you Create with Ricky

We sat down with JT to see how he creates.

The stresses of life come with every career.

And with those stresses come ways to find joy in order to combat those stresses. Or an outlet to express how that stress makes you feel. @beebop.rs knows that better than anyone else working a 9-to-5 for an emergency room in Houston.

Working such a high-stress job, Ricky was looking for a way to get away from his work while showing off some of the emotions and scenes he sees at work. With this outlet from work, he really started diving deep into his art but in an untraditional way.

“Working a hard ass job got me inspired to show what I see at work and get some outlet.”

There really is no rhythm or strategy for how his pieces come together unlike many other artist. He likes his hands to be the guide for what he wants to do rather than a thorough process. He continues to work on pieces until the vision comes to him.

“I don’t care what I am putting down till the end of a bunch of layers I’ve created and then I see if I have something there. If not, I put more layers down and go from there.”

Starting out as an artist, Ricky remembers his first art show sticking out the most for him. He was finally able to show off his work and sell some of his art at his first show “It Always Hurts.” But the support system of his wife and even a good friend of his coming in from San Marcos to see the show really helped him find that motivation to continue this creative journey.

And although he has an untraditional style of creating, he still has big plans for artistic ideas he wants to come to life in the future. Just as one project, he wants to take apart a large abstract canvas he has worked on in his studio and turn it into many different jackets so that his art can be in different pieces, but still a part of the bigger picture.

As long as Ricky is able to work with his hands and make something out of nothing, he will continue to create whatever comes to his hands.
